At ten o’clock in the evening, the rain curtain descended.

Guan Xi dragged her only suitcase from the underground garage to the upper floor. This property was under Guan Xi’s name, well-decorated and ready for immediate occupancy, but she had never stayed here before. Not only was there a pile of dust, but there were also no daily necessities. She knew that it was impossible for her to live at home anymore, so she decided to start living here alone from tonight.

After arriving home, Guan Xi put down her suitcase and called Yang Qing. For her, Yang Qing was available 24/7. Upon receiving the call, Yang Qing immediately arranged for a housekeeping service and also bought a bunch of essential daily necessities. The housekeeping service first dealt with the master bedroom so that Guan Xi could move in, and then they proceeded to handle the outer areas.

After Yang Qing finished briefing the housekeeping service outside, she knocked on the door and entered the room, “Miss Guan, are you planning to live here from now on?”

Guan Xi sat on the edge of the bed and coldly instructed, “Starting tomorrow, I will go to the company to handle the handover of all projects. I will release all the tasks on my plate.”

Yang Qing was stunned, “What do you mean?”

Guan Xi didn’t speak, but Yang Qing, being astute, understood without asking further. She was shocked and immediately said, “Mr. Guan won’t agree to this.”

Guan Xi replied, “He’s not at home today; otherwise, he wouldn’t have agreed to me moving out. But in the future, I will decide my own affairs. Just do as I say.”

“But what about Mr. Guan…”

“I will explain to him later.”

Sometimes, when it’s hard to get over something, there’s a feeling of breaking everything and not wanting anything. After making this decision, Guan Xi felt a sense of relief. Suddenly, she didn’t feel as tired. Without expectations for certain things, she found herself feeling more relaxed.

That night, she turned off her phone and slept soundly.

The next day, she went to the company to handle the handover and arrangements for the projects. She had a team under her, and there were many projects. Since she didn’t want to deal with these matters anymore, she needed to sort out the ownership of each project. In the morning, she held a meeting with her internal team. However, the meeting was only halfway through when Guan Xinghao received news from Yang Qing and directly called Guan Xi out of the meeting room.

“Xi Xi, how could you make decisions without discussing with dad!” In the office, Guan Xinghao angrily exclaimed.

Guan Xi replied, “Dad, I actually don’t like dealing with these business matters. In the past, if you gave me a position to pass my days, I would just go along with it. But now, I can’t do that anymore.”

“Why can’t you? If you really don’t want to do it, you can still take a position like before, let others handle the tasks.”

“But mom won’t agree, right?”

Guan Xinghao was stunned, “You…”

“I overheard your conversation in the office that day, so I decided to move out and don’t want to stay in the company anymore.” Guan Xi felt a sense of calmness, as if she had become enlightened, and continued, “Dad, I used to fight because I didn’t want you and mom to think I was inferior to Guan Ying. But now, I don’t want to anymore.”

When Guan Xinghao heard Guan Xi mention the conversation in the office that day, half of his heart turned cold, “Xi Xi, your mom just…”

Wanting to explain something, but it seemed there was nothing to explain.

Guan Xinghao opened his mouth, his voice hoarse, “You need to know, dad loves you very much—”

“Oh, I know.” Guan Xi smiled faintly, “That’s why I’m making things easier for you. Besides, it’s good for me to do things I like in the future. Can you stop hovering over me?”

“But why didn’t you tell me about moving out—”

“This matter, you shouldn’t try to stop me even more. I’ve already made up my mind.” Guan Xi said, “I feel better moving out. Maybe I can get along with Guan Ying better if we’re not in the same house. Since she has the advantage of blood relations, fine, I’ll move out.”

Guan Xinghao was stunned, his heart feeling as if it were being cut by a knife. He wanted to say something, but at this point, he didn’t know how to speak without hurting Guan Xi or making her hate him. Guan Xi didn’t want to say too much to Guan Xinghao. Dragging this matter on would only make it worse.

After forcefully sending Guan Xinghao away, Guan Xi continued to gather everyone for the meeting. She remained calm, not at all like her usual self. However, with many projects involving the company, there were many follow-ups in the contracts and with clients. It couldn’t be resolved in one or two days, so Guan Xi appeared at the company frequently these days.

One afternoon, just as she returned from a client meeting, she received a call from Jiang Suizhou. So far, the matters she was handling were related to the company and other businesses. None of them were collaborations with Jiang’s, and combined with her low-profile approach this time, Jiang Suizhou, as well as unrelated personnel, were still unaware of her intentions.

As for why she was delaying matters related to Jiang’s, it was almost like a subconscious decision, wanting to postpone something.

Seeing Jiang Suizhou’s call, Guan Xi hesitated for a moment before answering, “Hello.”

Jiang Suizhou asked, “Not busy now?”

Guan Xi replied, “Lunch break, just having a meal.”

Jiang Suizhou said, “Never thought there would be a day when you’re too busy to be found.”

Guan Xi lightly hummed, “Don’t look down on people.”

Jiang Suizhou said, “Busy in the afternoon? If not, come over.”

Guan Xi hesitated for a moment and immediately said, “Busy, quite busy, can’t make it.”

Jiang Suizhou didn’t expect her to refuse so quickly. They hadn’t seen each other for a while, not even on the phone much. Plus, with his leg still in a cast, he had been staying indoors most of the time.

“In that case, how about in the evening—”

“I have plans in the evening too!” After saying this, Guan Xi felt she reacted too strongly. She slowed down and spoke in her usual tone, “Tsk… Mr. Jiang, with your leg like this, can’t you stay at home and rest well? Why are you so busy with so many things?”

Jiang Suizhou smiled faintly at her words, “Seems like you’re the one with a lot on your plate.”

“Yeah, the company has been extremely busy lately… Oh, I still need to eat, so let’s talk later,” Guan Xi said, “I’ll visit you when I have some free time.”

Jiang Suizhou replied, “Oh, welcome to visit.”

Guan Xi giggled and hung up the phone. However, after hanging up, her expression became a bit stiff. Although she outwardly denied it, deep down, she knew what she was pretending. She was well aware of the foundation of their relationship and knew he would understand sooner or later. Yet, she was procrastinating and avoiding the idea of meeting him. In a daze, she found herself unexpectedly reluctant to leave him.

In the afternoon, there was nothing urgent. Guan Xi claimed to have something to do as an excuse not to meet Jiang Suizhou temporarily. While she was daydreaming in the office, she suddenly received a call from Xie Yan.

“Hello.”

“Guan Xi, the design plans are finished,” Xie Yan said. “When are you free? I can bring them to you, and it will be clearer to discuss them in person.”

Xie Yan was in charge of the design for the Nanshan Resort, and Guan Xi owed him a favor for this. Originally, she planned to invite him for a meal after the completion and also present some cooperation projects to repay the favor. However, now… she didn’t even want to stay at Guan’s, let alone discuss cooperation projects.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, she said, “I’m free now. How about I treat you to a meal, and we can discuss the design plans at the same time?”

Xie Yan was surprised, “Now?”

“Yeah, are you available?”

“Sure.”

“I’ll book a restaurant, and I’ll send you the address in a while.”

“Okay.”

Regarding that design plan, Guan Xi has talked a lot with Xie Yan on WeChat, so when she sees the complete design proposal now, she is very satisfied.

After a rough look, Guan Xi said, “Hmm, I think it’s very good, I really have to thank you for this.”

Xie Yan sat across from her, relieved to see her satisfaction, “There are still some details to be discussed, we may need to confirm with you later.”

Guan Xi shook her head, “Actually, there’s something else I want to tell you today. Hmm… it’s that I probably won’t be handling this project in the future. I’m not sure who the person in charge will be, but once it’s confirmed, I’ll need you to coordinate with them.”

Xie Yan was a bit puzzled because he could tell that Guan Xi had put a lot of effort into this resort project. Suddenly giving it up felt like abandoning the achievements.

“May I ask why?” he inquired.

Guan Xi looked at the glass of warm water in front of her, silent for a moment, and then asked, “Xie Yan, do you ever feel uncomfortable in the Xie family? Do you ever feel wronged or feel like you’re unnecessary?”

“…”

Guan Xi paused, then continued, “Ah, sorry, you don’t have to answer. I just…”

“It’s okay.” Xie Yan seemed to understand why she asked this question. He said, “I think I can understand what you mean.”

Guan Xi’s eyes brightened slightly, just like when she first met Xie Yan. Because she felt that the person in front of her was similar to herself, she could let down her guard and seek a kind of empathy. She thought most people couldn’t understand her feelings, but those who had similar experiences could.

“In fact, very few people can be indifferent to the blood connection. Feeling uncomfortable, wronged, and unnecessary… it’s normal to have such thoughts.”

“If you have these thoughts, wouldn’t you want to distance yourself from that family?”

“Perhaps, but often you have to weigh what matters more in your heart.” Xie Yan looked at her, as if he could see through her, “Guan Xi, actually, I’m different from you. I’ve known I was adopted since I was little, so I’ve always been clear about what to do and what I can accept. But you only found out late, and you were pampered for so many years. The huge disparity after knowing the truth might make it unbearable for you.”

Guan Xi clenched the cup tightly, “Hmm…”

“I’ve said it before, it depends on what you consider important. If those interests are not that crucial to you anymore, and you can’t bear the grievances, then you don’t have to insist on staying in that position. Making yourself happy is more important,” Xie Yan looked at her and asked in a soft voice, “So, you want to withdraw from the Nanshan project because you want to step out of your discomfort zone, right?”

“Don’t tell anyone else!” Guan Xi became nervous as he figured it out, “Don’t tell Song Li!”

Xie Yan: “You mean, don’t tell Jiang Suizhou?”

Guan Xi: “…”

Damn, how does he know this?

Xie Yan smiled, “Don’t worry, I won’t spill the beans.”

Guan Xi sighed in relief, “Thank you…”

After that, the two didn’t discuss the matter further. They just ate their meal and talked about design matters here and there.

Occasionally, Xie Yan would discreetly observe Guan Xi. In fact, at this moment, Guan Xi was as striking and beautiful as when he first met her. He had heard a lot about her personality and deeds from people around, portraying her as a domineering and aloof character who couldn’t see others in her eyes. It goes to show how multi-faceted people can be. For example, right now, Xie Yan felt that Guan Xi was just a stubborn yet somewhat panicked young girl.

**

At eight in the evening, someone came to Jiang Suizhou’s house. This was the first time his mother, Li Yuanying, visited him since he got injured.

Jiang Suizhou sat on the sofa, and someone poured a cup of tea for Li Yuanying. The two didn’t talk much, and Jiang Suizhou didn’t feel the usual comforting vibe one might expect when being visited by a mother. He just wanted to go through the motions of this interaction.

“Sui Zhou, this time, you acted very imprudently,” Li Yuanying remarked after a while.

Jiang Suizhou remained silent.

Li Yuanying continued, “Have you ever considered that if something goes wrong, is it worth risking your life for?”

Jiang Suizhou replied, “I won’t let myself end up in that situation.”

Li Yuanying smiled, “Sui Zhou, this is a probabilistic event. I remember you never used to engage in such risky endeavors before.”

Jiang Suizhou took a sip of tea, “What do you want to say?”

Li Yuanying responded, “I want to say that last time, not breaking up with her was already a risk, and this time is even more absurd.”

“My decisions are not something you need to worry too much about. I know my limits.”

Indeed, Li Yuanying didn’t interfere much in Jiang Suizhou’s affairs because she recognized his capabilities. Most of the time, she offered calm advice and analysis. “You better know what you’re doing.”

“Hmm.”

Li Yuanying took another sip of tea and then asked, “Guan Xi seems to be getting close to the young master of the Xie family recently?”

Jiang Suizhou paused slightly and looked at her, “Xie Yan?”

The Xie family had been thriving in the capital recently, and Xie Yan, in particular, had become well-known. When people mentioned the Xie family, many would think of not their biological son but their adopted son, Xie Yan.

“I was at a restaurant on Hengyuan Road before coming here, and Guan Xi and Xie Yan were having dinner there,” Li Yuanying casually mentioned, “If Guan Xi can learn something from Xie Yan, it might be helpful for her.”

However, Jiang Suizhou was a bit stunned, and he immediately asked, “Just the two of them?”

They were not on the same page.

Li Yuanying glanced at him and nodded, “Yes.”

A faint frown appeared on Jiang Suizhou’s forehead. He hadn’t forgotten the words she used when he asked her to come, saying she was too busy and couldn’t spare any time.

**

Guan Xi felt that Xie Yan lived a very transparent life; he knew exactly what he wanted and what he could accept. What he said was true—they were different. She couldn’t endure inequality and bear humiliation just for the sake of a glorious outcome, unlike him. She had been spoiled, and she couldn’t tolerate bowing down to Guan Ying, listening to her sarcastic remarks for even a second. As for Wei Shaomin, there was a lot of resentment towards her… so she didn’t want to continue like this.

The Nanshan Resort project involved Jiang Suizhou’s side, and Guan Xi had invested a lot of effort in it. She wanted to carefully consider who to hand over the project to. So, she personally worked with Xie Yan on the design plans. In the past few days, they went to the construction site to confirm the small details.

On the other side, Jiang Suizhou’s leg injury had mostly healed, and he went to the hospital to have the cast removed.

On the way back, Jiang Suizhou spoke up, “Was Guan Xi with Xie Yan today?”

Zhou Hao turned from the passenger seat, “Employees from Nanshan said that this morning, Miss Guan and Mr. Xie went there, and they left around four in the afternoon.”

Zhou Hao had been asked the same question yesterday, and his answer was almost the same.

He remembered that when he mentioned it yesterday, his boss had a calm expression. But having been around him for so long, he could sense that beneath the calm exterior, Jiang Suizhou was not pleased. So, upon learning that Guan Xi and Xie Yan went to Nanshan together again today, he had a vague feeling that his boss would be even more unhappy.

Zhou Hao had regular interactions with Guan Xi, and perhaps due to the time spent together, he subconsciously said, “Miss Guan seems to attach great importance to the Nanshan project. Not only did she invite Mr. Xie, but she also personally got involved.”

Jiang Suizhou glanced at him upon hearing this, making Zhou Hao’s heart skip a beat. He quickly turned his head. His words seemed like a defense for Guan Xi, but at the same time, defending her felt a bit strange. After all, there had to be some underlying issues if there was a need for defense.

Jiang Suizhou didn’t ask further and simply said, “Go to Guan Xi’s company.”

The driver nodded and changed direction.

The car turned onto the main road, and Jiang Suizhou lowered his gaze to send a message to Guan Xi: 【Come over for dinner tonight】.

When Guan Xi received the message, she and Xie Yan were coming out of her office. After reading it, she felt a bit agitated. The psychological resistance she had been avoiding these days became even stronger.

She quickly replied: 【Very busy, maybe another day】.

“Guan Xi,” Xie Yan turned around and found her lost in thought. “What’s wrong?”

Guan Xi snapped back, “Ah? Nothing, let’s go.”

Xie Yan said, “If there’s anything, you go ahead and take care of it.”

Guan Xi shook her head, “I have nothing to do now. Today, you’ve worked hard. There’s a good restaurant near the company. Let me treat you to a meal.”

Xie Yan smiled, “How about I treat you? It’s not right for a girl to keep treating me.”

Guan Xi said, “I’m asking a favor from you, so it’s only right.”

After receiving the message, Jiang Suizhou didn’t reply. The excuse he received from Guan Xi these days was consistently the same—busy.

If she genuinely had a busy schedule, he wouldn’t mind. However, he had a feeling that Guan Xi might not be genuinely busy, considering her recent activities mostly revolved around discussions with Xie Yan about the design. Leaving aside the fact that she could delegate such matters to her subordinates, even if she insisted on handling it herself, it shouldn’t take up all her time, leaving no room for a meal or a visit to his house.

Jiang Suizhou usually didn’t inquire about Guan Xi’s social circle. Whatever appointments or arrangements she had, he let her be. But when it came to Xie Yan, he couldn’t help but feel it was a different matter. There were plenty of men around Guan Xi, but Xie Yan was the first one she spoke up for.

Guan Xi felt that Xie Yan was similar to her, so she expected that her interactions with him would likely be different. And this difference made Jiang Suizhou quite uncomfortable. As the car approached Guan Xi’s company, Zhou Hao suddenly signaled the driver to stop.

“Mr. Jiang.”

Jiang Suizhou raised his gaze.

Zhou Hao gestured to a place not far outside the window, “Miss Guan is over there.”

Jiang Suizhou followed Zhou Hao’s line of sight and looked outside the car window. Not far away, Guan Xi and Xie Yan were walking side by side. They reached a restaurant and went inside. Jiang Suizhou watched in silence for a while, then withdrew his gaze.

**

The next day.

Guan Xi came to the company at 2 o’clock in the afternoon for a meeting. After the meeting, when she came out, Yang Qing approached her, “Mr. Jiang came to the company today.”

Guan Xi was momentarily stunned, clearly startled. “What is he doing here? Does he know?”

Yang Qing said, “He probably doesn’t know. The matters you handed over before were internal affairs and didn’t involve the Jiang family. Besides, the contract Mr. Jiang came to sign today is not under our team’s project.”

Guan Xi breathed a sigh of relief, “Oh.”

But is his leg healed? Can he still move around…

Guan Xi returned to her office. After a while, someone knocked on the door. Yang Qing entered, saying, “Miss Guan, Mr. Jiang is asking if you have time to meet him.”

Guan Xi, who was sitting behind her desk lost in thought, was taken aback. Before she could say anything, someone followed Yang Qing into the room.

“…”

After entering, Jiang Suizhou nodded to Yang Qing, who promptly exited, closing the door behind them. Then, Jiang Suizhou walked as if he was heading to his own office, going straight to the sofa in the reception area, pouring himself a glass of water.

“It seems you’ve been diligent lately.”

“Is your leg better?”

Both spoke at the same time. Although she had instinctively avoided him before, now that he had come to her, Guan Xi couldn’t just slam the door and leave. She got up and walked over, behaving as if nothing had happened, “Your leg must have just had the cast removed not long ago, right?”

Jiang Suizhou glanced at her, “You still know about that?”

“… You can figure it out by calculating. But after just removing the cast, shouldn’t you be resting at home?” Guan Xi said, “You’re such a workaholic, insisting on charging into the battle at this time.”

Jiang Suizhou took a sip of water and placed the cup down, “I just came to see how busy you really are.”

“…”

Jiang Suizhou looked at her and spoke again in a relatively calm tone, “Because you bailed on me hang out with Xie Yan several times, do you think it’s appropriate?”

“I, when did I…” Before she could finish her sentence, Guan Xi realized that someone from Nanshan must have informed him.

Indeed, she had been with Xie Yan these past few days, and while it wasn’t a big deal in itself, during this time, she had turned him down several times.

“What do you mean, because of Xie Yan? That’s work, do you not understand?” Guan Xi felt guilty, not because of Xie Yan but because she avoided seeing Jiang Suizhou.

Jiang Suizhou frowned, straightforwardly saying, “This work doesn’t require you to do it personally. You rarely got directly involved in such matters before.”

“I just want to be hands-on this time. What’s wrong with that? Can’t I?”

“Do you enjoy being with Xie Yan so much?” Jiang Suizhou suddenly asked.

Guan Xi was startled.

Jiang Suizhou recalled the scene he witnessed yesterday, a bit restless in his chest. His tone was no longer as calm, “Guan Xi, there should be an understanding between us. The position you currently hold and the interests involved are closely related to me. You should know that there’s no room for others between us.”

“Then what?”

Jiang Suizhou’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he said in a deep voice, “Then, you shouldn’t have excessive emotions and attention to others for secondary reasons.”

The position you currently hold and the interests involved are closely related to me… Yes, they were closely related when they were together.

“What if there aren’t so many family ties between us?” Guan Xi asked.

Jiang Suizhou paused, “What?”

Guan Xi looked at him, and her heart suddenly felt suffocated, as if her avoidance over the past few days made her seem neurotic.

“Are you implying that without those backgrounds, there’s no connection between us, and if that’s the case, you can let go of me? You can let me date someone else?” Guan Xi asked.

“Xi!” Jiang Suizhou called out.

Guan Xi’s head was buzzing, and her anger surged. She stood up, walked behind the office door, and suddenly opened it, “Get out, get out! I’m busy, don’t want to talk to you!”

Jiang Suizhou stood up and walked over, pushing the door closed again. He looked down at her, his eyes filled with anger, “Are you now considering dating someone else?”

“Well, if I have nothing, if I’m not Guan Xi, would you still be with me?” Guan Xi asked.

Jiang Suizhou was utterly puzzled, “How could you have nothing, and how could you not be Guan Xi?”

“I’m asking if you would still be with me.”

“There’s no such ‘if.’ You can only be Guan Xi, not someone else.”

Guan Xi stared straight at him. Yes, this was Jiang Suizhou. In his world, there were no ‘ifs’ or unexpected circumstances. What he wanted was perfection and compatibility, not some melodramatic eternity. But… wasn’t she also becoming this kind of person? When did she start to become so melodramatic?

Guan Xi was horrified by herself. She laughed lightly, pushing him away, “If you don’t leave, then stay. I still have things to do.”

It was leaving in anger, but it was also a desperate escape. Guan Xi walked straight out without any intention of looking back. After entering the elevator, she pressed the button for the basement.

She clearly felt that this was the expected and reasonable direction. Why did the two of them get to know each other, become engaged for what reasons? Isn’t it obvious? If she is no longer the Guan Xi from before, why should Jiang Suizhou be with her?

This is all normal…

The elevator was going down.

Guan Xi repeatedly told herself that this was normal, but while her mind thought so, her body was out of control. She felt the blood rushing upwards throughout her body, an uncontrollable palpitation spreading from her chest. It was very uncomfortable, making her experience a strange sense of confusion in the midst of intense anger.

Ding—

The elevator reached the underground garage. Guan Xi stepped out, and unexpectedly, the person who usually walked gracefully even in high heels stumbled. But she didn’t utter a sound. She squatted down, holding her ankle for a while, then silently stood up. Not that unlucky, just a slight stumble, she can still walk.

Guan Xi walked to the car, expressionless, opened the car door, and sat in. At that moment, her phone vibrated – it was a call from Jiang Suizhou.

She took the phone and decisively hung up the call!

She didn’t want to hear him speak!

But Jiang Suizhou persisted in calling, so she directly blocked him. However, just a second after blocking him, the phone vibrated again. Guan Xi subconsciously wanted to hang up, but when she saw “Grandpa” displayed on the screen, her fingers paused.

She hesitated for a moment and decided to answer the call.

“Grandpa.”

Grandpa Guan: “Xi Xi? What’s going on with you, ah? If your dad hadn’t mentioned it, if I hadn’t asked at the company, I really wouldn’t have known you were doing these things behind our backs. What exactly are you thinking?!”

Guan Xi was shocked by grandpa Guan’s scolding. “Grandpa, I just wanted to do something different…”

“Don’t say these nonsense. Stop this matter for me—”

Before grandpa Guan could finish, there was an unhappy voice of grandma Cui Mingzhu in the background: “Lower your voice, what’s with the harsh tone? Tell me, tell me.”

It became noisy on the other end for a while, and the phone eventually ended up in Cui Mingzhu’s hands. “Xi Xi, your dad said you moved out of the house. You, this child…”

Cui Mingzhu seemed to have changed locations and spoke softly, “Ah, I was thinking that with Ying Ying coming back, it might affect you. But I didn’t expect you to do this. How about coming to stay at grandpa and Grandma’s house? It’s not convenient for you to live alone outside.”

The two elders in the Guan family were very good to their grandchildren, especially to their granddaughter, who had been pampered since childhood. Even though they were always aware that Guan Xi was adopted, they didn’t treat her any differently.

When Guan Ying came back, the two elders were naturally very happy, but since Guan Ying returned when she was already in her twenties and got closer to the Wei family, her relationship with them was average. So, if we were to talk about it, emotionally, Guan Xi, who had been raised by them since childhood, had a closer bond than Guan Ying.

Before, the two elders always wanted to be fair, not letting either granddaughter feel unhappy, so they rarely intervened in the affairs between the children. But who would have thought that there would be a problem on Guan Xi’s side, and she was actually thinking of breaking away from the Guan family unnoticed.

When Guan Xi heard the familiar voice of Cui Mingzhu, her eyes immediately turned red. “Grandma, I’m fine living there. If I live with you, you’ll have to keep an eye on me and not let me come home too late at night.”

Cui Mingzhu replied, “No matter, grandma will not care from now on. Come and live with us. Also, how could you secretly hand over your responsibilities? Are you planning to give away your shares next? Grandma knows you’re feeling wronged, but Xi Xi, grandpa and grandma have always treated you as their own granddaughter, that’s a fact. Don’t think too much about it. Don’t be upset with Ying Ying, your mom, and yourself.”

The grandparents spoke one after another, grabbing the phone to talk.

Guan Xi sniffed and her voice choked, “I understand, Grandma. Please don’t say anymore. I’ll come to see you in a couple of days.”

“Don’t wait a couple of days. Come right now. Your parents and Ying Ying are all here. Let’s discuss things together. Your dad also said there’s something important to talk about. Hurry up and come.”

Hearing that both Guan Ying and Wei Shaomin were present, Guan Xi felt a headache, “What’s going on? I’ve already discussed everything with dad.”

“Grandma doesn’t know, but come over. Good child, we need to resolve this matter. It’s not good to fight and argue. Come on, grandma will definitely mediate for you.”

After hanging up the phone with the two elders, Guan Xi’s mind was still in chaos. However, with her grandparents insisting, she couldn’t refuse any longer. She had no choice but to put the matter with Jiang Suizhou firmly in the corner of her mind and drive towards the old house.

Half an hour later, she arrived at her destination. After parking the car, as she walked in, she unexpectedly ran into Yang Mingzhi.

“Uncle Yang? What are you doing here?”

Yang Mingzhi seemed to have known she would come: “I just arrived.”

“Are you here to see grandpa and Grandma?”

Yang Mingzhi didn’t answer, only saying, “Xi Xi, let’s go inside and talk.”

Aaahhhh. I suspect that GX was actually Uncle Yang’s daughter. Either she’s born without him knowing it, or she’s kidnapped. And he only knew about her when she’s been adopted by the Guan, remembering nothing about the orphanage, and long been accepted the Guan couple as her parents.
