Chapter 45: Fiancé
Perhaps it was due to extreme hunger, Guan Xi felt that what she was eating at this moment was the most delicious thing she had ever eaten in her life. It was also probably because she was in a foreign country, following a team she wasn’t very familiar with, that seeing Jiang Suizhou appear here brought her a sense of complete relaxation and joy.
“I didn’t intend to stay in a place like this,” Guan Xi said while eating. “It’s because I wanted to shoot the interior of the most iconic hotel here. Finally, after much effort, I managed to persuade the higher-ups to allow us to stay for two nights. But because they wanted to cut the budget, the hotel we stayed in for the first few days was downgraded.”
Jiang Suizhou looked at her. “Does your studio lack funds?”
Guan Xi replied, “I compared several options, and this one is considered decent. It’s just that the owner is a bit… thrifty.”
Jiang Suizhou said, “Oh, then let’s leave after eating. No need to stay here.”
In the past, Guan Xi’s immediate reaction would have been, “Of course, let’s go, no need to be polite with Jiang Suizhou.” However, this time, she didn’t nod her head. After all, complaining with a good friend was one thing, but when it came to work, it was another matter. After a little complaint, she would just move on and continue her work.
And her team was here; there were meetings and coordination to be done. How could she just run away?
Jiang Suizhou asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m not leaving. I have a lot of things to do tomorrow, and it’s quite troublesome to keep moving around,” Guan Xi said.
Jiang Suizhou didn’t expect Guan Xi to refuse. “Are you sure?”
“Sure, we’re moving to the better hotel tomorrow night anyway. There’s no rush for this one night,” Guan Xi took another bite of her food. “Besides, I’m really tired today and don’t feel like moving. You can go by yourself later.”
Jiang Suizhou nodded slightly and didn’t say anything more. Later, Guan Xi quietly finished her meal, feeling quite satisfied after eating to about seventy percent full.
After being full, that lazy fatigue came back to Guan Xi. She stood up, stretched lazily, and said, “I just woke up, why am I still sleepy…”
As she spoke, she turned to look at Jiang Suizhou, who was sitting quietly in the chair, calm, cool, and gentle. Guan Xi’s heart skipped a beat, pulsating with strength. “When are you leaving?”
Perhaps even she didn’t realize, but the words sounded a bit sticky, with a hint of reluctance.
Jiang Suizhou said, “In a while. If you’re tired, go ahead and sleep.”
Guan Xi acknowledged with an “oh,” walked to the edge of the bed, lifted the blanket, and sat down. After a moment of thought, she asked, “But are you just going to sit there and watch me sleep? Isn’t that boring for you?”
Jiang Suizhou glanced at her, suddenly got up, and walked over. He lifted the edge of her blanket. “Scoot over.”
Guan Xi blinked her eyes and barely moved inward by a centimeter, her heart beating unevenly. “I didn’t say you could come over.”
“Sitting and watching you sleep is a bit boring.” Jiang Suizhou bent over, hooked her leg, and pulled her a bit further inside. Then, he lay down himself, still dressed. “Lie down, go to sleep.”
“…”
Guan Xi didn’t move, and Jiang Suizhou wasn’t waiting. He directly reached out, grabbed her ankle, and pulled her into the bed all at once.
“Jiang—”
“I didn’t sleep on the plane. Be quiet and let me sleep for a while.” He closed his eyes, and his long eyelashes cast a faint silhouette on his skin, showing some signs of fatigue.
Guan Xi looked at his face, and the words she originally wanted to say suddenly swallowed back. When she spoke again, her voice unconsciously softened, “Okay, in return for bringing me food, I’ll let you sleep for a while… but only for a while.”
Jiang Suizhou may have smiled a bit, and Guan Xi heard him make a sound of agreement. She reached up and turned off the main light in the room. As the room darkened, only the faint light from the nearby bathroom illuminated the surroundings.
Then, Jiang Suizhou naturally reached out and hugged her, the familiar posture, familiar warmth, and familiar scent. Guan Xi was momentarily stunned, her heart skipping a beat twice. But she didn’t push him away, and indeed… she didn’t really want to push him away. Later, in the mix of fatigue and a sense of security, she drifted off to sleep.
In the long night, as she slept deeply, Guan Xi felt a bit suffocated. In her dream, it seemed like something was tightly binding her, too tight, and she couldn’t struggle free. Guan Xi let out a sob and slowly opened her eyes, still in a daze. For a moment, she couldn’t tell if it was a dream or reality. She only saw the curtains tightly drawn, not allowing any light to distinguish whether it was day or night.
The heavy sound of breathing came from beside her. Guan Xi was stunned for two seconds, then suddenly became fully awake. She reached out to pull the hand around her waist, only to realize that what tightly bound her in the dream was not a rope but Jiang Suizhou himself.
“Jiang Suizhou…”
The person behind her, upon realizing that she was awake, seemed a bit intolerant. He released his grip, turned over, and propped himself up on her side. “Awake?”
Guan Xi’s face turned crimson. “I can’t breathe… You ambushed me while I was sleeping!”
Jiang Suizhou took a light breath. Initially, he hadn’t intended to do anything. But after waking up from a nap, with the soft fragrance and warmth in his arms, coupled with the person he had long missed, he couldn’t restrain himself.
Jiang Suizhou looked down at her and remained silent for a long time before hoarsely saying, “Guan Xi, after all this fuss, have you had enough?”
Guan Xi protested, “I haven’t caused a fuss…”
“Haven’t caused a fuss?” Jiang Suizhou interrupted, “After returning to China this time, come back with me. Don’t refuse.”
Guan Xi felt overwhelmed by his breath, and her thoughts were in chaos. “But I still have work. I have to travel around in the next few days.”
“Am I stopping you from working? You can do whatever you want,” Jiang Suizhou replied impatiently.
As Jiang Suizhou spoke, the tension in his tone increased, and Guan Xi could sense his heightened aggression on that matter. Indeed, before he could finish speaking, he kissed her. It was a kiss filled with longing, with the warmth of lingering fears.
Guan Xi couldn’t resist. Jiang Suizhou’s kiss was intense and urgent, sweeping over her lips and tongue in an instant. He was wearing neatly pressed shirt and trousers, while her pajamas were thin and easily torn. He was already experienced in this matter, making her feel comfortable in a way she understood.
Guan Xi felt suppressed, her physiological response intense and explicit. She trembled slightly, and just before her desire was about to be extinguished, she fiercely bit his lip.
“Hiss…” Jiang Suizhou’s eyes darkened. “Want to die?”
Guan Xi, breathing unevenly, discreetly shifted her leg, keeping it tightly closed. “There are no condoms here; don’t do anything reckless!”
Jiang Suizhou stopped and frowned. “Is that so?”
Guan Xi raised her hand to block his lips and pushed him aside. “What are you trying to trick me into doing, seriously?”
Jiang Suizhou froze in place, probably for a good six or seven seconds, before finally leaning to the side. The room returned to silence, with a lingering warmth in the air. Guan Xi could feel the change in the atmosphere from his end, and she lightly bit her lip, her heart pounding, blood restless, and unable to settle down.
In the past, there had always been a strong mutual attraction in this aspect between them. Despite the long separation, it had been a while since they indulged in such desires. Honestly, she found it a bit challenging to resist his recent actions.
However, the lack of protection was indeed true!
After a while, Jiang Suizhou went to take a shower. Guan Xi lay on the bed, took out her phone, and checked the time. It was already four in the morning, and soon it would be dawn. The schedule for the day was not too busy. They would visit a renowned restaurant for lunch and then head for sand dune activities in the afternoon, which sounded quite enjoyable.
“Where are we going today?” Jiang Suizhou came out, wearing the same clothes as before, with a towel wrapped around his waist.
Under the bathroom light, Guan Xi could vaguely see his contours, including the damned delicious and long-unseen abs and obliques.
“For today… There’s nothing in the morning. In the afternoon, we’re going to ride camels,” Guan Xi absentmindedly replied.
Jiang Suizhou nodded and directly removed the towel, uncovering the bed and lying back down. After a cold shower, he was still cool to the touch when he brushed against her arm. Guan Xi was chilled, and she instinctively recoiled a bit. Jiang Suizhou glanced at her but didn’t come to hold her.
“I won’t be able to accompany you in the afternoon; I have a video conference to attend,” he said.
“Of course, I didn’t expect you to accompany me. I have plenty of colleagues there,” Guan Xi replied.
“Take care,” Jiang Suizhou said, lying comfortably with his eyes closed.
After a while, his steady breathing indicated that he had indeed fallen asleep. Guan Xi didn’t continue sleeping; she had already slept quite a bit today, and being awakened made it difficult for her to fall back asleep. So, she turned away from him, dimmed the screen brightness of her phone, and started watching movies that she had downloaded earlier.
It was only around eight in the morning when she drifted off again.
Ding, ding…
Ding, ding, ding…
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding…
The sound of the alarm continued incessantly, extending endlessly.
“Turn it off.” The person beside her reached over and hugged her, his breath against the back of her neck, his tone displeased.
Guan Xi mumbled in protest; being awakened right after falling asleep was an unpleasant feeling. She curled up under the blanket, isolating herself from the alarm. Jiang Suizhou, annoyed by the alarm, reached over and lightly pinched her waist. In the end, he got up and took her phone from the bedside table, pressing the button to stop the alarm.
“Ouch, what are you doing…” Guan Xi covered the area where he pinched, feeling particularly wronged.
“I told you to turn off the alarm.”
“Couldn’t you do it yourself…”
“Your alarm.”
Guan Xi covered her ears, not wanting to listen, feeling that this was a domineering move of “your alarm, so you have to turn it off.”
Jiang Suizhou rubbed her head across the blanket, sitting up in bed. Seeing that it was about time, he decided not to continue sleeping. He called Zhou Hao and asked him to bring a set of clothes over. Half an hour later, the doorbell rang.
Jiang Suizhou lifted Guan Xi from the bed. “Go and open the door.”
Guan Xi glared at him. “Hey, you—”
“I’m not wearing any clothes.”
Guan Xi glanced at the blanket hanging around his waist. Okay! He indeed wasn’t wearing anything!
Guan Xi held back her frustration, got out of bed, and wearing slippers, went to open the door.
Zhou Hao stood outside the door, and upon seeing Guan Xi opening it, he revealed a very intriguing smile. “Miss Guan, these are President Jiang’s clothes, and here’s your breakfast.”
Guan Xi took the items from him. “Thanks.”
“No problem.”
With that, Zhou Hao turned and walked away with that smile. Internally, he was celebrating because, at this moment, the two of them were sleeping together!
He had been eagerly anticipating this scenario, as the relationship between his boss and the young miss had somewhat affected the boss’s mood in recent days, making Zhou Hao’s life less pleasant. Now that things were back on track, he naturally felt happy.

After Guan Xi brought in the clothes and breakfast, she turned and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Jiang Suizhou, dressed in his clothes, also entered. The two stood side by side, just like many mornings before, getting ready together.
Guan Xi rinsed her mouth, looking at Jiang Suizhou in the mirror, recalling the accidental intimacy they had in the early hours of the morning. If they had protection… they might have gone all the way.
Hmm… does this count as making up? Guan Xi pondered, realizing that perhaps making up wouldn’t be a bad idea? Just as she was lost in thought, the doorbell suddenly rang again. Guan Xi snapped back to reality, dried her hands, and went to open the door. As the door opened, she saw her colleague from the team, Wang Qing, standing outside.
“Guan Xi, our graphics are all done. Come take a look later.”
“The graphics are done? Okay, I’ll come over after finishing breakfast.” Guan Xi responded and noticed Wang Qing looking surprised. “What’s wrong?”
Wang Qing said, “Oh, there’s someone in your room. Who is he?”
Guan Xi followed her gaze and realized that Jiang Suizhou had quietly stepped out.
“Oh, him…” Guan Xi hesitated, not sure how to introduce him.
But Jiang Suizhou extended his hand to Wang Qing. “Jiang Suizhou.”
“Wang Qing. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too.”
They briefly and politely shook hands.
Wang Qing curiously asked, “I haven’t seen Mr. Jiang before. Are you Miss Guan’s…”
“Fiancé.”
