Chapter 78: Don’t Believe
The lights in the room weren’t fully on, so it wasn’t particularly bright. Meng Ying turned around, picked up the hangover soup, and handed it to him. Xu Dian raised his head, took the soup, and drank it all in one go.
The light only partially illuminated his face, making it hard to discern his expression. As for whether there were any traces of tears, it was impossible to tell, and Meng Ying didn’t plan to ask.
She decided to give him some face.
After finishing the hangover soup, Xu Dian started getting a little handsy. Meng Ying grabbed his hand and pulled him up. Xu Dian let out a low laugh and said, “I can walk.”
With that, he stood up and began unbuttoning his shirt. Meng Ying followed behind him, pushed open the bathroom door, and forcefully shoved him inside. “Take a shower.”
Before he could say anything, Meng Ying slammed the door shut.
Xu Dian didn’t even have time to react. He cursed under his breath, then took off his shirt, turned on the shower, and started washing up.
Meng Ying returned to the living room, tidied up the notebook on the table, washed the bowl, and poured out the leftover hangover soup. After that, she turned off the living room lights and went into the bedroom. The sound of running water from the ensuite bathroom was loud and clear. Meng Ying yawned, lay down on the bed, and turned on her side to play with her phone.
The room was quiet.
The sound of water from the bathroom was distinct. Meng Ying listened to it, feeling a bit drowsy as she mindlessly scrolled through her phone. After a while, the bathroom door opened, and Xu Dian stepped out, drying his hair. He was wearing a loose bathrobe. The warm light in the room illuminated the figure lying with her back to the bathroom. He put down the towel, walked over, leaned on the edge of the bed, and bent down to kiss her back.
A flurry of kisses rained down, and Meng Ying’s body tensed up instantly. She pushed him away lightly, but it was no use. Soon, her fingers gripped the pillow, and her breathing became uneven. Xu Dian lowered his head, kissing her cheeks and lips. Under the dim light, their shadows stretched long.
Meng Ying bit his fingertip.
Xu Dian leaned close to her ear and, at the peak of their intimacy, whispered, “I love you.”
Those three words exploded like fireworks in her mind. Meng Ying felt so dizzy she was almost breathless. She bit down on the pillow, letting out a muffled sound, her mind filled with nothing but:
I love you.
I love you.
In the stillness of the night, Xu Dian picked Meng Ying up and carried her into the bathroom. His neck was covered in scratches as he reached for the showerhead.
When they came out again, Meng Ying was much more awake. Xu Dian held her close and whispered, “Go to sleep.”
Meng Ying rested her head on his shoulder, her breathing soft. She tilted her chin to look at him. Before he closed his eyes, he raised a hand to cover her gaze and added, “If you keep looking, we’ll go again.”
Meng Ying’s face flushed slightly, and she immediately closed her eyes. But after a while, she opened them again. She was wide awake. She then turned over, grabbed her phone, and checked the time. It was almost 2 a.m. Her neck still felt a little cool.
She glanced back at Xu Dian. The man had one hand resting on his forehead and was already asleep. Even in sleep, his jawline looked sharp and cold, and his strikingly handsome features made him appear even more aloof.
If he wasn’t smiling, he looked even more distant.
When he smiled, it only slightly softened his demeanor.
Meng Ying quietly clicked her tongue and poked the fingers he had resting on his forehead with her fingertip.
Then, she picked up her phone and took a photo. It only captured half of his face, but their hands were intertwined—one slender, the other long and elegant—creating a rather aesthetic composition.
After taking the photo, Meng Ying posted it on Weibo.

After posting, she put her phone down and went to sleep.
Having been busy for over a month, she was exhausted. Meng Ying slept deeply, so much so that by the time dawn approached, she still hadn’t woken up. Xu Dian, however, was already awake.
He quietly got up, put on his bathrobe, and walked out of the room. He opened the front door.
Jiang Yi was standing there, holding three brocade boxes.
Xu Dian took them and said, “Wait downstairs.”
“Understood.”
Jiang Yi nodded.
Xu Dian turned back and walked into the room. He placed the three brocade boxes on the nightstand and opened one of them. Inside was a black wristwatch. He gently took Meng Ying’s hand and slipped the watch onto her wrist. This wasn’t the watch from Geneva; it was another one, even more expensive and meaningful.
It was custom-made, with a hidden detail on the dial.
After fastening the watch, Xu Dian bent down and kissed Meng Ying’s lips. He then stood up, closed the curtains for her, and changed out of his bathrobe into the shirt and pants Jiang Yi had brought over. Once he was done, he picked up his phone, turned back, and kissed Meng Ying once more. He pulled the blanket up over her before finally leaving.
Outside, the sky was overcast and gloomy.
The black Hummer was parked outside the neighborhood. Xu Dian lit a cigarette, opened the car door, and got in.
Today was the final court hearing.
Although the outcome was almost certain, Jiang Yi was still a little nervous. His hands gripping the steering wheel trembled slightly. Xu Dian glanced at him a few times, and Jiang Yi coughed, straightened up, and stared ahead, trying to maintain a composed expression.
Xu Dian crossed his long legs, his slender fingers lazily scrolling through his phone.
A few minutes later.
She had posted his photo.
Damn.
Xu Dian’s heart suddenly thumped. He propped his elbow on the armrest and let out a low chuckle, playing with the cigarette in his hand, flicking it once, twice, not caring even when it burned his fingers.
He casually opened the comments.
The next second.
Xu Dian: “…”
“Wow, Meng Ying must’ve been forced again.”
“Mr. Xu, have you no shame? Using Meng Ying’s Weibo to flaunt your relationship in the middle of the night.”
“Oh my, and he even made sure to take such a handsome photo of himself.”
“Meng Ying, wake up! This man has no shame.”
“Meng Ying, hurry and wake up. Xu Dian is using your Weibo to post his photos.”
“Poor Meng Ying. You need to set a password. Women should have their own private space.”
“She must’ve been forced, just like when she was forced to follow him last time. My God, my heart aches for Meng Ying.”
**Xu Dian of Xu Corporation v:** She posted it herself.
“I don’t believe it!!”
“I don’t believe it either!!”
Xu Dian: “…”
